Formlabs launches Nylon 11 Pro Powder for the Fuse 1+ 30W and Fuse X1, delivering superior impact resistance and ductility for end-use SLS parts.
A New SLS Material Built for Toughness
Formlabs has introduced Nylon 11 Pro Powder, a new selective laser sintering (SLS) material compatible with the Fuse 1+ 30W and Fuse X1 printers. Designed for parts that must flex, absorb shock, and hold up under repeated use, it fills a clear gap between general-purpose Nylon 12 and more specialised engineering materials.
Outstanding Mechanical Performance
Compared to Nylon 12, Nylon 11 Pro Powder delivers approximately five times greater elongation at break and nearly twice the notched Izod impact strength. Its improved isotropy means parts behave predictably regardless of print orientation, simplifying build packing and reducing the risk of orientation-dependent failures.
Ideal Applications
Nylon 11 Pro Powder is well suited for a wide range of demanding use cases, including:
- Impact-resistant functional prototypes and end-use parts
- Snap fits, clips, and living hinges
- Durable jigs and fixtures
- Thin-walled ducts and enclosures
- Orthotics, prosthetics, and wearable devices
- Lightweight drone airframe components
Same Economics as Nylon 12
Despite its enhanced properties, Nylon 11 Pro Powder maintains the same 30% refresh rate as Nylon 12, keeping powder costs competitive and making it a practical choice for production environments — not just prototyping.
Real-World Validation
Automotive and robotics applications are already benefiting from the material. Rivian, for example, has used Nylon 11 Pro Powder to print harness clips and robot tooling, demonstrating its readiness for demanding industrial environments.
