PreForm 3.60.0 brings crash-proof Auto-Recovery, lifelike part previews, and effortless multi-body file imports to your print prep workflow.
What's New in PreForm 3.60.0
Formlabs has released PreForm 3.60.0, a free update to its print preparation software that introduces three workflow-improving features: Auto-Recovery, Realistic Renders, and Separate Bodies. Together, they reduce friction from the moment you open a file to the moment you send a job to print.
Auto-Recovery: Never Lose Your Work Again
Unexpected crashes no longer mean lost progress. Auto-Recovery runs silently in the background, saving a local temporary backup of your active scene at regular intervals. If PreForm closes unexpectedly, you are prompted on the next launch to restore the most recent backup — right where you left off. The backup interval and recovery behaviour can be adjusted under PreForm > Preferences > General.
Realistic Renders: See the Final Part Before You Print
A new view toggle in the 3D scene lets you switch between the standard view and a Realistic View, which renders parts as they will actually appear once printed — including material colour, layer lines, and surface texture. A curvature map further highlights high-detail areas, making it easier to choose the best orientation and evaluate cosmetic surfaces before committing to a print. Realistic Renders is currently supported for Rigid 10K Resin V1.1, Nylon 12 Powder, and Grey Resin V5, with additional materials planned.
Separate Bodies: Import Multi-Part Files in One Step
Separate Bodies lets you import a single file containing multiple combined parts and split them into individual models directly inside PreForm — no CAD software detour required. Once separated, each body can be oriented and prepared independently, and split bodies can be automatically grouped for easier management on the build platform.
