What the Bambu Lab A1 mini is

The Bambu Lab A1 mini is the smallest FDM printer in the Bambu Lab range: a 180 × 180 × 180 mm build volume in a 347 × 315 × 365 mm, 5.5 kg body that fits on a desk or a classroom bench. It is aimed at first-time users, students and anyone who wants to print without tuning a machine, because bed levelling, flow calibration and vibration compensation all run automatically before every job.

Why it stands out at this price

  • Up to 500 mm/s with 10,000 mm/s² acceleration on all-metal linear rails, so parts finish quickly with clean surfaces.
  • All-metal hotend rated to 300°C and an 80°C bed, ideal for PLA, PETG, TPU and PVA, the materials most people print day to day.
  • Tool-free nozzle swaps in 0.2 / 0.4 / 0.6 / 0.8 mm (a 0.4 mm nozzle is included).
  • Under 48 dB in silent mode, quiet enough to run overnight in a bedroom or office.
  • Built-in camera for remote monitoring in Bambu Handy and timelapse recording.
  • Filament run-out and tangle sensors plus power-loss recovery.

Multi-colour printing

Add the AMS lite (sold separately, or bundled in the A1 mini Combo) to print up to four colours or materials in one job. AMS lite is the open-frame feeder designed for the A series; the enclosed AMS units used by the P, X and H series do not fit the A1 mini.

Who it suits, and which model to pick

For toys, figures, household parts and prototypes under 18 cm, the A1 mini is the best-value machine in the Bambu Lab line-up. If you need the 256 mm build volume and 100°C bed, look at the Bambu Lab A1; for ABS, ASA or engineering filaments that need an enclosure, step up to the P2S.

In the box

A1 mini printer, spool holder, textured PEI build plate, 0.4 mm stainless-steel nozzle, PTFE tube and the accessory box.

A1 mini vs A1: what actually differs

Both share the same toolhead, the same speed and the same AMS lite option. The difference is size: the A1 mini prints up to 18 cm per side, the A1 up to 25.6 cm with a bed that reaches 100 °C. For toys, figures, small brackets and a printer that fits on a desk, the A1 mini is the cheaper and quieter pick. If you will ever print parts longer than 18 cm or several parts per plate, starting with the A1 saves buying twice.

Filaments that work, and those that don't

Bambu Lab lists PLA, PETG, TPU and PVA as ideal for the A1 mini, and ABS, ASA, PC, PA, PET and carbon- or glass-fibre filaments as not recommended. The machine is open-frame with an 80 °C bed, so those materials shrink and lift off the plate; the stainless nozzle is also not meant for abrasive fibre-filled filament. For regular engineering materials, look at an enclosed model such as the P2S.

Space and power

The printer is 347 mm wide, 315 mm deep and 365 mm tall and weighs 5.5 kg — one person can move it. It runs on 100–240 V and draws at most 150 W. With an AMS lite, leave room beside it for the feeder and four spools. Print over Wi-Fi from Bambu Studio on a computer or the Bambu Handy app on a phone; G-code from other slicers such as PrusaSlicer or Cura loads from the microSD card.

FAQ

Common questions

How big can the Bambu Lab A1 mini print?+

The build volume is 180 × 180 × 180 mm, so roughly 18 cm per side. Larger parts can be split and assembled, or choose the A1 with its 256 mm volume.

Can the A1 mini print ABS or ASA?+

Not recommended. The A1 mini is open-frame with an 80°C bed; Bambu Lab lists PLA, PETG, TPU and PVA as ideal. For regular ABS/ASA work choose an enclosed model such as the P2S.

What is the difference between the A1 mini and the A1?+

Same motion system and print quality; the difference is size. The A1 mini prints 180 mm with an 80°C bed and weighs 5.5 kg; the A1 prints 256 mm with a 100°C bed. Both use the same AMS lite.

Does it need assembly?+

No. Unbox it, fit the spool holder and build plate, join Wi-Fi and let the printer calibrate itself, then print.

What do I need for multi-colour printing?+

An AMS lite, sold separately or bundled in the A1 mini Combo. One AMS lite gives up to four colours.

What warranty do I get, and where can I see it running?+

12-month Thai warranty with Thai-speaking after-sales support. Try the machine at our True Digital Park, Seacon Bangkae and Central Sriracha branches.

Does the A1 mini work with the AMS 2 Pro?+

No. The A series uses the AMS lite only; the AMS 2 Pro and AMS HT are for enclosed models such as the P2S, X2D and the H2 series.

How much space and power does it need?+

The printer is 347 × 315 × 365 mm and weighs 5.5 kg. It runs on a normal wall socket and draws at most 150 W.

Can I fit other nozzle sizes?+

Yes. A 0.4 mm nozzle is in the box and 0.2, 0.6 and 0.8 mm nozzles are available separately. The nozzle is stainless steel.

Can I print from my phone?+

Yes. Over Wi-Fi you can start jobs and watch the camera from the Bambu Handy app, or use Bambu Studio on a computer.
