The Bambu Lab A1 is an open-frame FDM printer with a 256 × 256 × 256 mm build volume that brings the full automatic-calibration suite of the larger Bambu machines to an accessible price. Before every job it levels the bed, sets the Z offset, measures filament flow and compensates for vibration on its own; you pick a file and press print. The 385 × 410 × 430 mm, 8.2 kg body suits homes, classrooms and small studios.
The A1 accepts the AMS lite (sold separately, or bundled as the A1 Combo) for up to four colours per unit. It can also connect to an AMS 2 Pro or AMS HT through the AMS HUB accessory if you want built-in filament drying.
Beginners who want the full 256 mm build volume, schools and universities that need a low-maintenance machine, and shops printing large quantities of PLA and PETG. If your work needs ABS or engineering filaments, consider the enclosed P2S in the same size class; for a bigger A-series bed, see the A2L (330 × 320 × 325 mm).

The A1 is the open-frame model with the same print volume as the P2S at a lower price. You get 25.6 cm per side and a 100 °C bed for PLA, PETG and TPU; you give up the enclosure, so ABS, ASA and fibre-filled filaments are not recommended. For everyday parts, prototypes and decorative prints in PLA or PETG the A1 is enough and just as fast as the larger machines. For engineering materials or air filtration, step up to the P2S.

Bambu Lab lists PLA, PETG, TPU and PVA (water-soluble support) as ideal for the A1, and ABS, ASA, PC, PA, PET and carbon- or glass-fibre filaments as not recommended: there is no enclosure and the nozzle is stainless steel. The bed does reach 100 °C, but large ABS or ASA parts can still shrink and split between layers in cool room air.
The printer is 465 mm wide, 410 mm deep and 430 mm tall and weighs 8.3 kg, so plan a desk at least half a metre wide plus room beside it for an AMS lite. It accepts 100–240 V and peaks at 1,300 W while heating the bed (at 220 V), so avoid sharing a power strip with other heavy loads. Print over Wi-Fi from Bambu Studio or the Bambu Handy app, or from a microSD card with G-code from another slicer.
