The Form Studio 1 is Formlabs' newest resin 3D printer: the Low Force Display engine from the Form 4 family in a desktop machine. A 28-LED backlight and a 35 µm pixel give crisp detail and smooth surfaces, resin dispenses automatically from the cartridge, and most jobs finish in under two hours. This SKU is the launch-run Founders Edition Graphite printer with the standard aluminium Build Platform: the lowest-cost way into the Form Studio 1, upgradeable to the Build Platform Flex later.

At the core is a backlight unit of 28 uniform-wavelength 405 nm LEDs, a plano-convex lens array and integrated air cooling, delivering 6 mW/cm² through the LCD mask onto a flexible Release Texture V2 tank film. Peel forces stay low, so supports can be lighter and parts warp less. Formlabs says reliability testing is still under way and is expected to match the Form 4, which scored a 98.7% print success rate in independent testing.

Because the whole layer is exposed at once, print time depends on height, not on how many parts share the platform: one figurine or a full plate takes the same time. Formlabs states that most prints finish in under two hours (based on an 80th-percentile print height of 53 mm at 100 µm), with Alpha Fast Resin reaching 130 mm/h and engineering resins running at 10–20 mm/h.
Typical XY tolerances are ±0.5% for 1–30 mm features, ±0.2% for 31–80 mm and ±0.03% for 81–150 mm, with a floor of ±0.08 mm. Every supported resin ships with accuracy-verified settings, so assemblies fit as designed.

Formlabs developed the six Alpha Resins specifically for this printer: Alpha Grey, White, Black, Clear, Fast and Model. They are low-odour, post-processed parts meet the requirements for long-term skin contact, and they are the first 3D-printing materials certified UL GREENGUARD Gold when used with the VOC Extractor. Alpha Resins run only on the Form Studio 1, not on the Form 4. Tough 1500 V2, Flexible 80A V2 and True Cast complete the nine validated resins. Most other Formlabs resins also work (with your own settings and the Resin Tank Pro), and the included Open Material Mode opens the printer to third-party 405 nm resins poured and tuned manually.
The cartridge tops the tank up as the level sensor requests, conduction heating brings the resin to 25–45 °C depending on the material, and the free PreForm software orients, supports and slices in one click. Send the job over Wi-Fi or Ethernet, then follow it in the Form Mobile app or Dashboard. When it is done, the Build Platform Flex bends to release parts without a scraper. Tanks come with a reusable lid, so they stack and store resin outside the printer, and changing material means sliding in another tank.
Formlabs' walkthrough covers the whole workflow, from file preparation and printing to part removal, washing and curing:

The print chamber is sealed, the tanks are spill-resistant and a rear vent port takes the optional VOC Extractor with its twin carbon filters. Used with Alpha Resins, the Form Studio 1 is UL GREENGUARD Gold certified for low chemical emissions, which Formlabs describes as a first for a resin printer.

Formlabs positions it for creators, designers, hobbyists and studios: tabletop miniatures and figurines, cosplay props, product-design prototypes, art and sculpture, custom gifts and small-batch parts for a side business.

The launch run comes in four colours: standard Graphite and the limited Aqua, Violet and Teal. Founders Edition printers show a Founders Edition tag on screen, and the special colours are available only while stock lasts.

Order online as an individual or a company with a full tax invoice on every order; printers ship free throughout Thailand. Our team at True Digital Park, Seacon Bangkae and Central Sriracha can help you choose the model, resins and post-processing gear. The printer carries a one-year Formlabs limited warranty, extendable with a 1- or 3-year Pro Service Plan. Keep the original box and foam: Formlabs requires them for warranty shipping.
It is an MSLA (masked stereolithography) printer built on Formlabs' Low Force Display engine: a backlight unit with 28 high-power 405 nm LEDs and collimating lenses cures each layer through an LCD mask at 35 µm pixel size, with anti-aliasing for sub-pixel smoothness.
Formlabs quotes up to 130 mm/h with Alpha Fast Resin and about 40 mm/h for general-purpose resins. Because a whole layer is exposed at once, a full build platform takes the same time as a single part of the same height, and most jobs finish in under two hours (based on an 80th-percentile print height of 53 mm at 100 µm).
Typical XY tolerances are ±0.5% for 1–30 mm features, ±0.2% for 31–80 mm and ±0.03% for 81–150 mm, with a lower limit of ±0.08 mm. Layer height is adjustable from 25 to 250 µm.
Nine resins have validated settings: Alpha Grey, Alpha White, Alpha Black, Alpha Clear, Alpha Fast, Alpha Model, Tough 1500, Flexible 80A, True Cast. Most other Formlabs resins also dispense from their cartridge, but you tune the settings yourself and need the Resin Tank Pro. Third-party 405 nm resins run in Open Material Mode, which is included: you pour manually, set your own exposure and also use the Resin Tank Pro.
The standard Resin Tank uses a film tuned for Alpha Resins (faster prints, better finish) and also suits Flexible 80A V2 and True Cast. Tough 1500 Resin V2 and most third-party resins contain ingredients that attack that film, so they must go in the Resin Tank Pro. Never print those in the standard tank: Formlabs warns the film can degrade and leak.
Formlabs rates both tanks for more than 75,000 layers with its materials, roughly 190 average-height (39 mm) prints at 100 µm. The film cannot be replaced on either tank, so the tank itself is the consumable.
This package includes the standard aluminium Build Platform. The Build Platform Flex has a flexible stainless-steel print surface that releases parts in seconds without tools and is the one Formlabs recommends for almost all prints; the standard platform has a durable aluminium surface. Either can be bought separately as a spare.
No. Print preparation is done in PreForm, Formlabs' free software, which orients models, generates supports and slices. The Form Mobile app and Dashboard handle monitoring and remote printing.
Yes on both counts. The built-in 1920 × 1080 camera streams to the Form Mobile app and Dashboard and records time-lapses. You can disable it in settings, cover it with the included camera cap or unplug its cable; time-lapse is a separate toggle.
Every resin print is washed in IPA, TPM or Formlabs Resin Washing Solution to remove uncured resin, then UV-cured to reach its final properties. The compact Form Studio Wash+Cure does both in one unit; Form Wash and Form Cure are the larger alternative.
The print chamber is sealed, the tanks are spill-resistant and the Alpha Resins are low-odour with safety data sheets available. With the optional VOC Extractor connected to the vent port and Alpha Resins, the Form Studio 1 is UL GREENGUARD Gold certified for low chemical emissions.
Same 20.0 × 12.5 cm footprint but 23.5 cm of height instead of 21.0 cm, a finer 35 µm pixel (Form 4: 50 µm) and a 28-LED, 6 mW/cm² light engine against the Form 4's 60 LEDs at 16 mW/cm². The Form 4 supports 22 resins with a resin mixer and debris detection, so it stays the choice for engineering materials and production; the Form Studio 1 is the lower-cost option for models, prototypes and detailed parts.
A limited launch run of the Form Studio 1 in Aqua, Violet or Teal alongside the standard Graphite. Each Founders Edition printer shows a Founders Edition tag in its interface. Colours are available only while stock lasts.
A one-year Formlabs limited warranty against manufacturing defects, with email support. The optional Pro Service Plan (1 or 3 years) extends the warranty for the length of the plan and adds accidental-damage coverage with unlimited repairs (a per-claim deductible may apply under Formlabs' terms) plus priority phone support. Keep the original box and foam: Formlabs requires them for warranty shipping.
Formlabs designs the workflow so that most users learn the full printing process in about ten minutes: the printer is factory-calibrated, resin dispenses automatically and the touchscreen onboarding walks you through setup.
No. The printer runs fully offline; jobs can go in over USB-C and firmware updates through PreForm over USB. Connecting it (Wi-Fi 2.4/5 GHz or Ethernet) and signing into a Formlabs account unlocks remote monitoring, the Form Mobile app, Dashboard alerts and remote printing.
No. The Form Studio 1 build platform and resin tanks are not interchangeable with the Form 4 (different latch fit and size), and Alpha Resins run only on the Form Studio 1. The Form Studio Wash+Cure, Form Wash and Form Cure, however, serve both printers.
