The VOC Extractor is a compact add-on that reduces volatile organic compound levels while the printer runs. It plugs into the printer's exhaust port and sits on the desk: no enclosure and no dedicated ventilated room. Chamber air passes through a pre-filter and then two activated-carbon filters, which Formlabs rates at roughly 330 hours of print time and replaces in seconds. One button selects three fan speeds, and the unit runs only during printing.

All resins release VOCs while printing, and Formlabs notes that continued use in enclosed, poorly ventilated spaces without filtration may lead to sensitisation. The VOC Extractor is part of what earns the Form Studio 1 with Alpha Resins its UL GREENGUARD Gold certification, a stricter low-emission standard than regular UL GREENGUARD and the one used for products in schools, offices and homes; Formlabs describes it as the only resin printing setup certified to that level. In Formlabs' sealed-chamber TVOC testing, the Form Studio 1 with the extractor running peaked at less than a fifth of the VOC level measured from a competitor printer.

The Form Studio 1 and the Form 4 / 4B connect directly to the vent port. For the Form 4L, Formlabs' product page lists it as compatible while its partner documentation says the port is a different size and not directly compatible, so ask us before ordering for a Form 4L.
The companion Formlabs recommends for the Form Studio 1, especially in classrooms, offices and homes. Full tax invoice on every order; our team at True Digital Park, Seacon Bangkae and Central Sriracha can advise.
No, the printer runs without it. It is what makes the Form Studio 1 with Alpha Resins UL GREENGUARD Gold certified, and Formlabs recommends filtration for enclosed or poorly ventilated rooms such as classrooms and offices.
Formlabs rates the carbon filters at roughly 330 hours of print time. The replacement kit RP-VOC-FILTER-01 contains four pre-filters and two carbon filters; ask us for availability and price.
It has three fan speeds; the Form Studio 1 manual notes that speed 1 is roughly 5 dBA quieter than speed 2. It only runs while the printer is printing.
Formlabs' product page lists the Form 4L, but its partner documentation says the Form 4L port is a different size and not directly compatible. Check with us before ordering for a Form 4L; the Form Studio 1 and Form 4 / 4B connect directly.
